The SAT examination is a pencil paper based exam. The questions in

There are no specified eligibility criteria to take the SAT exam.
Students of any class can take the test and they can take it as many times as
they want to. Although, the average age of students taking the test is 17-18
years, there is no age limit set by the examination board to take the exam. The
best age to take the test in high school junior or senior year and it can be
taken as many times as the student wants.
The paper of the SAT exam is divided into 3 major sections. Among
these, two are compulsory sections and one is optional. The compulsory sections
are the Math section and the Evidence based reading and writing sections. On
the other hand, the third section that is the Essay section is optional. Even
though the Essay section is optional, most of the students include the Essay
section in their test. The main reason behind this is that many universities
give priority to the students who have scored well in the essay section as
well. The two compulsory sections are further classified into two parts each.
The parts in the evidence based reading and writing section both consist of
multiple choice type questions. The Math section has one part that needs to be

The time allotted to a student during the exam depends on their
choice regarding the optional section. The students taking the test without the
Essay section are allotted 3 hours or 180 minutes. These 180 minutes are
further broken down into two parts. The Math section needs to be solved within
80 minutes and the remaining 100 minutes needs to be spent solving the evidence
based reading and writing section. On the other hand, if a student chooses to
take the test including the Essay section, then he or she will be allotted 50
more minutes for that section. The points of compulsory sections are 200-800
each. So, the highest score possible in SAT is 1600. The average point scored
by students in the test is 1060. The essay section is worth 5-8 points.
The fee to be paid to take the test also depends on whether the
student chooses to include or exclude the Essay section. The fee to take the
test excluding the Essay section is $46 and the fee to take the test including
the Essay section is $60. So, to include the Essay section a student has to pay
$14 more.
